Der 1. Dezember ist Welt-AIDS-Tag! Aus diesem Anlass \u00fcbernehmen PD Dr. Hanna-Mari Baldauf<\/strong><\/a> and Junior Prof Dr Christina Karsten<\/strong><\/a> unsere X-Seite. Vom 01. bis 06. Dezember<\/strong> twittern die Virologin Baldauf vom Max von Pettenkofer Institut der LMU M\u00fcnchen und die Immunlogin Karsten vom Institut f\u00fcr die Erforschung von HIV und AIDS-assoziierten Erkrankungen der Uniklinik Essen f\u00fcr Infect-Net \u00fcber HIV, AIDS und die damit verbundene Forschung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Das humane Immundefizienz-Virus, HIV und AIDS, die von ihm ausgel\u00f6ste Immunerkrankung, sind nach wie vor weltweite Herausforderungen pandemischen Ausma\u00dfes. Zwar l\u00e4sst sich eine HIV-Infektion mit Kombinationstherapien gut kontrollieren, aber effektive und f\u00fcr alle Menschen zug\u00e4ngliche Heilungschancen sind noch nicht in Sicht. Die Forschung an Impfungen, Therapieans\u00e4tzen und der Behandlung von AIDS bleibt wichtig, um das Virus, die Krankheit und die damit verbundene Stigmatisierung von Betroffenen zu bek\u00e4mpfen. December 1st is World AIDS Day! To mark the occasion, PD Dr. Hanna-Mari Baldauf<\/strong><\/a> and Assistant Professor Dr. Christina Karsten<\/strong><\/a> are taking over our X page. From December 1 to 6<\/strong>, virologist Baldauf from the Max von Pettenkofer Institute at LMU Munich and immunologist Karsten from the Institute for Research on HIV and AIDS-Associated Diseases at Essen University Hospital will be tweeting for Infect-Net about HIV, AIDS and related research.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The human immunodeficiency virus, HIV, and AIDS the immune disease it causes, are still global challenges of pandemic proportions. Although HIV infection can be well controlled with combination therapies, effective and accessible cures for all people are not yet in sight. Research into vaccinations, therapeutic approaches and the treatment of AIDS remains important in order to combat the virus, the disease and the associated stigmatization of those affected. We will find out more about this in the Takeover.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
