Februar 2025, stellte Infect-Net-Sprecherin <a href=\"https:\/\/infectnet.org\/en\/web\/mitglied.php\/?id=37\">Prof Dr <strong>Gabriele Pradel<\/strong><\/a> ihre molekularbiologischen Arbeiten zur m\u00e4nnlichen Gametozytenbildung des Malaria-Erregers <em>Plasmodium falciparum<\/em> am Max-Planck-Institut f\u00fcr Infektionsbiologie (MPIIB) in Berlin vor. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Eingeladen wurde die Infektionsbiologin der RWTH Aachen University von den MPIIB-Forscherinnen <strong>Dr. Silvia Portugal<\/strong> and <strong>Dr. Elena Levashina<\/strong>. <strong>Silvia Portugal <\/strong>leads the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpiib-berlin.mpg.de\/2019364\/malaria-parasite-biology\">Lise-Meitner-Arbeitsgruppe &#8222;Biologie der Malariaparasiten&#8220;<\/a> und untersucht die saisonale Anpassung des Malaria-Erregers mit den ihr zugrundeliegenden genetischen Prozessen. <strong>Elena Levashin<\/strong>a leitet die <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpiib-berlin.mpg.de\/1910561\/vector_biology\">Arbeitsgruppe &#8222;Vektorbiologie<\/a>&#8220; und erforscht die Rolle des Immunsystems der Stechm\u00fccken bei der Malaria-\u00dcbertragung.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Neben dem fachlichen Austausch konnte die Gelegenheit auch dazu genutzt werden, unser Netzwerk f\u00fcr Infektionsforscherinnen am MPIIB bekannter zu machen. Wir freuen uns schon darauf, neue MPIIB-Expertinnen bei Infect-Net begr\u00fc\u00dfen zu d\u00fcrfen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p><em>English:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>On Wednesday, 5 February 2025, Infect-Net spokeswoman <a href=\"https:\/\/infectnet.org\/en\/web\/mitglied.php\/?id=37\">Prof. Dr <strong>Gabriele Pradel<\/strong> <\/a>presented her molecular biological work on male gametocyte formation of the malaria pathogen Plasmodium falciparum at the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology (MPIIB) in Berlin.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>The infection biologist from RWTH Aachen University was invited by MPIIB researchers <strong>Dr Silvia Portugal <\/strong>and <strong>Dr Elena Levashina<\/strong>. <strong>Silvia Portugal<\/strong> heads the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpiib-berlin.mpg.de\/2008071\/malaria-parasite-biology\">Lise-Meitner research group \u2018Malaria Parasite Biology&#8220;<\/a> and investigates the seasonal adaptation of the malaria pathogen and the underlying genetic processes. <strong>Elena Levashina<\/strong> heads the \u2018<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mpiib-berlin.mpg.de\/research\/vector_biology\">Vector Biology\u2019 working group<\/a> and is researching the role of the mosquito&#8217;s immune system in malaria transmission.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>In addition to the professional exchange, the opportunity was also used to publicise our network for female infection researchers at the MPIIB.
