As part of the rotating Infect-Net lecture series, Prof Dr Ina Maja Vorberg<\/strong><\/a> from the German center for neurodegenerative diseases (DZNE) in Bonn, visited Prof Dr Andrea Maisner<\/strong><\/a> at the Institute of Virology, Marburg, on 22 May 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In her extremely exciting and inspiring lecture, Ina Vorberg described her scientific journey from prion research to the study of amyloid in neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease. In doing so, she impressively presented the role of viral glycoprotein and endogenous retroviruses in the spread of amyloid, which was previously unknown to many. This not only stimulated intensive discussions, but also laid an important foundation for further scientific exchange between the infection researchers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
