The Asian tiger mosquito has not only arrived in Central Europe, but is also threatening to spread throughout Germany. Fortunately, however, the insect does not grow as large as it appears in the picture, measuring just two to ten millimetres.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Clarissa Prazeres da Costa is a medical microbiologist, immunologist, infectious disease specialist, professor at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and co-founder of the Centre for Global Health at TUM<\/a>. She heads the Department of Parasitological Diagnostics<\/a> and the teaching unit at the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
