Prof. Dr. Lisa Maier and Dr. ir. Margo Diricks received the awards during the DGHM Annual Conference in Jena.<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The gender award gap has narrowed once again: at the 77th Annual Meeting of the German Society for Hygiene and Microbiology (DGHM) in Jena, this year's main prize went to T\u00fcbingen-based microbiologist and Infect-Net expert Prof. Dr. Lisa Maier<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lisa Maier is researching how drugs influence the composition of our gut microbiome as part of the Cluster of Excellence \u2018Control of Microorganisms for the Fight against Infections\u2019 (CMFI)<\/a> at the University of T\u00fcbingen. Her innovative work is pioneering interdisciplinary research approaches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bioinformatician Margo Diricks awarded industry prize<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Dr. ir. Margo Diricks<\/strong><\/a> received the research award sponsored by Becton, Dickinson and Company. At the Research Centre Borstel, Leibniz Lung Centre, Margo Diricks develops bioinformatic analysis programmes for monitoring infections with non-tuberculous mycobacteria. These lung pathogens are often difficult to identify, especially in resource-poor countries. New diagnostic strategies are helping to control their spread worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
