On 22 and 23 September, we will be holding our first annual meeting. We are planning the following programme items for this year:

  • Expert talks
  • Introduction of scentific associations
  • Introduction of initiatives for women in science
  • General meeting
  • Networking opportunities

From Base to Bedside – RNA and Infection

In keeping with Würzburg's status as a research hub, home to the Helmholtz Institute for RNA-based Infection Research (HIRI) , this year we will be focusing on the diverse functions of RNA molecules in the context of infections, the immune system and prophylaxis. Our members Prof Dr Franziska Faber and Prof Dr Stefanie Kampmeier from the Institute for Hygiene and Microbiology at Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg have kindly agreed to host the meeting. They will be supported by our Infect-Net event team.

In addition to scientific exchange, we also want to strengthen our network with relevant professional associations and initiatives for women in science, which we will introduce to you in more detail on site.

During the annual conference, we will also hold our general meeting to discuss all organisational matters relating to the German Association of Women in Infection Research (Verband deutscher Infektionsforscherinnen e.V.). A detailed programme will follow in the coming months.

Call for contributions:

If you have a research topic that fits in with this year's conference theme and would like to present it at our network meeting, please get in touch with us via our contact form under the heading ‘Events’. Our colleagues from the events team will then get in touch with you.

Important note:
Please note that we are unable to reimburse travel expenses this time, as our funding period has officially ended!

The Infect-Net Online Meetings

At our meeting in February, we will focus on internal communication and introduce our teams to you again, promote the Infect-Net club room, and inform you about our official admission to the Association of German Infection Researchers (Verband deutscher Infektionsforscherinnen e.V.).

Some of the teams could still use some support. We hope that the team presentations will spark the interest of one or two infection researchers to get actively involved. The online format is ideal for asking questions and passing on suggestions to the board and the teams.

The ‘Klubraum’ provides us with a versatile platform for internal club communication. In addition to announcements, groups for teams, discussion forums for specialist areas and an events calendar, the Klubraum also offers general surveys and individual chats. We would like to introduce you to the most important functions of the Infect-Net Klubraum and hope that it will become a lively portal for internal exchange in the future.

Overview of topics for the first online meeting in 2026 on 13 February at 1 p.m.:

  • Team introductions
  • Klubraum as a communication portal
  • Admission process

We will inform you of the agenda for the second online meeting on 19 June 2026 at 1 p.m. in good time beforehand. We will probably clarify questions regarding membership admission and the planned annual conference.

We look forward to seeing lots of you there and hearing your suggestions. We would be particularly delighted if you would like to get actively involved in Infect-Net.
