Version 1.2 – More overview, more networking

In recent months, Infect-Net has not only continued to grow as a network, but our website has also undergone a comprehensive relaunch. The familiar design has remained the same, but a lot has changed in the background.
Our goal was to further develop infectnet.org technically and structurally so that we could maintain content more flexibly, better represent our community, and integrate new offerings more easily. The entire design and maintenance of the website is now almost entirely done via WordPress. This is an important step towards greater sustainability and independence.
The colleagues from the homepage team are now taking over the online editorial work, which was previously handled by our project coordinator René Lesnik. The team consists of ...
- Viola Introini (Max Planck Center for Physics and Medicine, Erlangen)
- Vera Kozjak-Pavlovic (University of Würzburg)
- Meina Neumann-Schaal (DSMZ Braunschweig)
- Sandra Reuter (University Hospital Freiburg)
- Zina Uckeley and
- Cláudia Vilhena (Erlangen University Hospital).
The team can be reached at the email address homepage@infectnet.org . Members can also simply write to the team in the Klubraum app: Click on the (+) symbol in the ‘Conversation’ menu and start a new conversation with the ‘Team Homepage’.
The team receives additional support from
- Judith Boldt (HKI Jena),
- Kristina Hopfensperger (Tübingen University Hospital) and
- Ursula Rescher (University of Münster)
- Nathalie Schmidt (University Hospital Cologne),
who will continue our Infect-Views interview series.
What's new on the homepage?
Improved expert search
Our database is now clearer, more differentiated and more user-friendly. This makes it easier to search for experts by name, expertise and location. Areas of expertise are now also displayed as keywords on the left-hand side. In addition to a complete overview, the search can be narrowed down to scientists in the fields of epidemiology, immunology, infectiology, microbiology, parasitology or virology. Try it out now:
We ask our members to check their own profile details and to notify us of any updates or changes. The Onboarding Team is responsible for maintaining the entries: joinus@infectnet.org. Of course, the team can also be reached in the Klubraum app.
Comprehensive ‘About Us’ section
Who we are, what we stand for and how Infect-Net came into being is now presented in a clearer and more transparent manner. This section also contains our statutes, an overview of membership fees, the composition of the teams and links to the reports of our previous network meetings:
Presentation of our working groups
The Infect-Net working groups and teams are now a central part of our association's activities, and we want to make this commitment visible. Our team overview allows you to select individual teams and shows their members, along with information about their tasks and goals:
More attractive blog posts:
The switch to WordPress allows us to use more design elements and embed media files more flexibly. This helps us to convey content in a more attractive, comprehensive and clear manner. The first examples are the reports by Cláudia Vilhena and Viola Introini:
Password-protected member area
We have created an internal area for our members that offers space for exclusive information and materials. Here you will find an access link to the Klubraum, various files to download and a method search engine to find expert advice or new cooperation partners. Our members receive the password by email and are welcome to make further suggestions for the protected area:
Bilingual texts (German / English)
Infection research in Germany is, of course, also conducted on an international level. This is finally reflected on the website. The overview pages, navigation and current blog articles are now also available in English via the tab at the top right. The translation of profile entries and older posts will be completed over time.
For us, the relaunch is not the end, but rather another step forward. The website will continue to evolve together with Infect-Net. Feedback, comments and ideas are therefore very welcome. The homepage team also welcomes contributions from the network and is happy to assist with implementation.
We invite you to take a look around and hope that the new structure will further strengthen exchange, visibility and networking within Infect-Net and beyond.
